Fiorentina Declines £1.7m Man United Loan; Eyes Obligatory Purchase for Amrabat

Fiorentina Reject Manchester United’s Loan Offer, Favoring Permanent Deal for Amrabat

Premier League giants Manchester United faced a setback in their pursuit of Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as Fiorentina declined their initial loan offer. The Italian club expressed their preference for a guaranteed permanent fee in exchange for the player.

Throughout the summer, Manchester United had been closely eyeing Amrabat, but the club’s challenge lies in potentially needing to offload members of their current squad to make room for new signings under Erik ten Hag’s management.

In light of this situation, Manchester United explored alternative options, proposing a loan arrangement for Amrabat from Fiorentina. However, the Serie A side swiftly turned down the offered £1.7 million loan deal.

Amid ongoing negotiations, Fiorentina remains open to the idea of a loan agreement with Manchester United, but with a condition. They are looking for an “obligation to buy” clause to be included at the end of the loan term. This stipulation is aimed at ensuring a return on their investment.

While this condition offers hope for a potential agreement between the two clubs, time is of the essence. The transfer window is set to close on Friday, leaving Manchester United with a limited timeframe to finalize any deal.

Sofyan Amrabat, eager to make the move to Old Trafford, has taken a proactive approach by discontinuing training with Fiorentina’s first-team. This step underscores his urgency to see the transfer through. Presently, he is undergoing solitary training sessions. If the transfer does not materialize, he is expected to rejoin Vincenzo Italiano’s squad.

Amrabat’s prominence as a defensive midfielder shone during Morocco’s journey to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar the previous year. His exceptional performance garnered significant interest from prominent European clubs. Although his current contract expires next year, there exists an option to extend it for an additional 12 months.

While Liverpool had shown previous interest in Amrabat, Manchester United currently hold the upper hand in securing the player’s services.

In the midst of these developments, Manchester United is seeking to free up space within their midfield roster. To achieve this, they are considering offering Donny van de Beek to Lorient, a Ligue 1 side, on a temporary basis.
