Reading’s Andy Carroll in Talks for Surprise Move to French Side Amiens
Reading striker Andy Carroll is currently in discussions for a move to the French club Amiens SC. The veteran striker has made his way to France to finalize his transfer to the Ligue 2 team.
Carroll, who rejoined Reading last September, is nearing the end of his contract and is now on the verge of playing for an overseas club for the first time in his career. He had previously been part of Reading between November 2021 and January 2022.
Throughout his time at Reading, Andy Carroll has played in 42 matches and scored 11 goals. This potential move to Amiens marks a new chapter in his career, as he explores the opportunity to contribute to a foreign team.
The 34-year-old forward started in Reading’s initial two League One fixtures of the current season. However, he was not part of the team in the following three games. Carroll has a history of representing several clubs, including Newcastle (twice), Preston, Liverpool, West Ham (twice), and West Brom.
Lyon, another French club, is also making moves in the transfer market. They are considering a move for Leeds striker Georginio Rutter, who signed with Leeds from Hoffenheim for a substantial fee. Despite his club record signing status, Rutter has managed only one goal in 17 appearances for Leeds.
Amiens SC, the potential destination for Carroll, finished in the 12th position in Ligue 2 during the previous season. Carroll’s journey might take him away from Reading once again, as he embarks on a new adventure with Amiens.
