Premier League Newcomers Compete for Arsenal’s Rob Holding Signing

Luton Town Eyes Arsenal Defender Rob Holding Amidst Competition

Luton Town has entered the race to secure the services of Arsenal defender Rob Holding, but they face strong competition from Real Mallorca and Sevilla. The Premier League newcomers are eyeing Holding as a potential addition to their squad. However, their attempt to sign Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden has hit a roadblock.

Rob Holding, who has yet to make an appearance for Arsenal this season, is anticipated to leave the club. He has found himself lower in the pecking order and has not been included in the matchday lineup for any of Arsenal’s three Premier League matches this season. Holding’s current contract has one year remaining, with an option for Arsenal to extend it by another year.

During the previous season, Holding had limited opportunities on the field, making only 14 appearances in the Premier League, with six of those as starts. Since joining Arsenal from Bolton Wanderers in 2016, he has accumulated a total of 162 appearances for the club. Recently, Besiktas attempted to acquire Holding with a £2 million offer, but Arsenal turned down the proposal. It is expected that Holding will depart from Arsenal before the transfer deadline.

Isaac Hayden’s prospective move to Luton Town has encountered obstacles, despite the midfielder undergoing a medical assessment earlier. Hayden, who still has three years left on his contract with Newcastle, has been training with the Under-21s after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Eddie Howe. The 28-year-old midfielder did not feature in any games for Newcastle in the 2021-22 season and spent the last campaign on loan at Championship side Norwich City.
